Columbia Mayor Chaz Molder (Democrat): Molder has been mayor of Columbia, located in Maury County, since 2018 — the same year Ogles was first elected county mayor. As mayor, Molder has worked to improve the city’s infrastructure and passed balanced budgets each year. Molder has so far focused his campaign on attacking Ogles’ divisive reputation, and criticizing Ogles’ lack of substantive legislation and accomplishments for the district. Molder’s home base in Columbia was drawn out of the district by state Republicans, but he opted to remain in the 5th District race. Molder has raised more than $1.8 million since announcing his bid in September.
